A BABY girl was injured after being hit by a car in Kurri Kurri last night.

The 17-month old child was in a stroller being pushed across Lang Street near the Kurri Kurri police station about 8pm when she and her mother were hit by the car.

Paramedics said the child suffered head injuries, possibly when she fell from the stroller and the mother had minor injuries.

Mother and child were taken to Maitland Hospital for treatment and the girl was sent to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment and checks.

The child was reported to be in a stable condition last night.

Police are investigating the incident.
